Essential Functions:Executes regular audits of corporate and property level account reconciliations.Plan and perform operational audits across the organization.Performs observations and analysis to identify opportunities for process and operational improvements.Assists in preparation of communications and reports reflecting the results of the work performed and any recommended improvements in policies, procedures, and operations for senior management.Performs follow-up audit procedures to confirm audit recommendations agreed to by senior management have been implemented effectively in a timely manner.Performs audit procedures, including to identify risks, planning and performing walkthroughs to review documentation of process flows and associated controls, analyze evidence, and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate identified risks and ensure compliance.Builds and maintains key relationships with stakeholders, establishing a culture of engagement while adding value.Performs special projects as assigned.Travel ranges between 5% - 15%Education & Experience Required:Minimum Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years - preferably in public accountingMinimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in AccountingCertification(s) Required: Certified Public AccountantSignificant knowledge of U.S. GAAP, COSO, SEC and PCAOB rules and regulations.Experience auditing financial statements and disclosures, including planning, test of controls, test of details, and sampling methods.Critical thinking skills who can analyze and appraise the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and maintain curiosity and exercise professional skepticism.Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to organize and express ideas clearly and with confidence in order to influence others.In-depth ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts, and have the keen ability to learn and apply new audit practices.Ability to conduct technical research regarding applicable accounting and reporting standards.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).Additional Skills Preferred:Understanding of ERP systems and auditing techniques to test operational effectiveness.Ability to work independently, with limited direction and guidance, and manages individual time effectively.Demonstrated attention to detail.Experience in managing multiple projects and working with varying team members.Pursues tasks with energy, drive, and urgency especially in the face of resistance or setbacks.Willingness to be a team player and assist with hard deadlines.Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.Works well in both a team environment and individual tasks.Deadline driven and capable of working independently.ABOUT CHURCHILL DOWNS INCORPORATED:Churchill Downs Incorporated ("CDI", NASDAQ: CHDN) has been creating extraordinary entertainment experiences for nearly 150 years, beginning with the company's most iconic and enduring asset, the Kentucky Derby.
