Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.About Our OpportunityWe are looking for an Accounting Analyst to provide service and support to internal and external customers in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Corporate Credit Card Program, Fixed Assets, Tax, Leasing, General Ledger and Account Reconciliations. Team members in this role are responsible to prepare and verify a variety of complex accounting, statistical, and narrative statements or reports requiring extensive analysis and interpretation of data. Accounting Analysts identify financial issues by partnering internally and externally to identify and implement solutions. This opportunity requires a financial professional who is able to organize and prioritize demands while meeting processing deadlines. This is very much an opportunity for someone who is resourceful and able to guide other team members to support Farm Credit Mid-America business plans and initiatives.How You Will Spend Your TimeAs an Accounting Analyst you will have responsibilities in the following disciplines of Accounting: General Accounting:

  • Establish and maintain accounting control by streamlining and maintaining accuracy with normal and complex accounts.
  • Process monthly accruals, amortization expenses, and approve adjustments and reclassifications to journal entries.
  • Assist with the day to day, monthly and year-end operations of the Corporate Accounting and Finance Team. Fixed Assets:
    • Conduct entries by recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (tangible and intangible) and capital assets.
    • Track existing fixed assets, record depreciation, and account for dispositions.
    • Maintain property tax records and investigate assets for potential obsolescence.
    • Perform month-end and year-end tasks and reconcile accounts. Lease Accounting:
      • Identify accounting treatment in accordance with (ASC 842) for contracts pertaining to real estate, equipment, automotive, and other leases.
      • Monitor journal entries for accuracy and assist with research and interpretation of accounting literature to resolve issues. Tax Accounting:
        • Analyze and interpret data to produce vendor and customer tax statements.
        • Ensure compliance with IRS reporting requirements. Correspond with the IRS and other tax authorities to resolve notices.
        • Reconcile general ledger and tax reporting databases to sub-ledger systems.
        • Prepare lease M1 tax file and verify depreciation expense and deferred tax liability. Minimum Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or finance, plus two to three years progressively responsible and related experience. Strong Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word skills. Graduate degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, business or related field and/or professional certification (ex. CPA, CFA, CTP or CMA) desirable. Experience in financial services industry preferred.Mental & Physical RequirementsThis job requires the incumbent to have the ability to:
          • Engage in telephone and face-to-face conversation to serve customers and give and receive information from customers, staff, vendors, outside consultants and the public.
          • Use a computer and similar office technology and tools. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
          • Speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to job.
          • Travel via auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.
          • Successfully interact with and represent the organization to customers, staff, officers, board members, vendors, and/or the public at all levels.
          • Provide sound technical advice to customers and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position.
          • Understand and explain various subject matter and consulting concepts, programs, terminology, and methods.
          • Reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, decide, and critique such information as written material, numerical data, responses to customer needs, and/or other related work activities.
