Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's in Engineering or related field, four years of related work experience. Additional work experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade EG. Salary Minimum $48,421; midpoint $66,269; maximum $85,798 Preferred Qualifications Experience in conducting assessments and the development/delivery of training in concepts related to pollution prevention, energy-efficiency, sustainability, and/or similar engineering principles. Courses and certifications related to engineering and environmental sustainability such as Professional Engineer or Certified Energy Manager. Work with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Position Description The Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center (KPPC) is looking for an engineering professional with a mission driven desire to make a difference by assisting Kentucky business and industry to become more environmentally sustainable. KPPC is a state-mandated technical assistance program based at the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering, serving as Kentucky's resource center for environmental sustainability. The Sustainability Engineer will work with KY business and industry to identify cost-saving solutions for improved energy efficiency, pollution prevention and waste minimization. These would include sustainable manufacturing approaches that reduce environmental impacts and provide economic benefits for both now and for generations to come. This position will have a role in developing the future generation of engineers by mentoring student interns and providing them with hands-on experience in a professional setting, incorporating sustainable approaches in a real-world setting. This position will also collaborate with Speed School faculty and researchers to address client-related engineering issues and to deploy the newly developed University of Louisville Industrial Assessment Center, funded through the Department of Energy. Job responsibilities: Coordinate with team members to conduct environmental sustainability assessments for clients to identify opportunities and prepare technical reports detailing the assessment results consistent with program service objectives. Coordinate with program personnel to provide technical assistance for clients in the areas of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency and monitoring the progress of projects to ensure project objectives are being met. Assist in developing and delivering training and workshops that address environmental sustainability concepts. Assist with the development of co-operative student interns including assigning work tasks, along with the recruitment and evaluation of students. Assist in the development and maintenance of the center and maintain performance metrics of delivered services to satisfy sponsor requirements. Assist with identifying opportunities and developing project workscopes to secure funding to support the delivery of technical services aligned with the mission of the Center.
