Electromechanical Devices The ChallengePrimary focus will be coordinating the supplier quality engineering efforts related to sourced devices, new product introduction, new supplier qualifications, continuous supplier improvement, and cross-functional support for all related programs. This role will develop and implement the business wide EMD strategy impacting the supply chain into GEA manufacturing sites. What you will Do Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Develop EMD expertise within SQ organization. Facilitate strategy around NPI execution/qualification, drawing support, and EMD training with controls SQ team. * Organize and facilitate global EMD strategy with Haier, GEA, Mabe, and F&P teams. * Own all aspects of quality engineering and project management for suppliers of assigned commodity. This includes qualification of suppliers, continuous ownership and development throughout the life-cycle of the supplier. * Utilize technical expertise in assigned commodity design and manufacturing equipment to work with suppliers in developing optimal product designs and manufacturing processes. * Initiate and lead the 9-step process with the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools by partnering with Technology to identify, understand and abate issues for NPI and C changes. * Conduct Critical Part Risk Reviews related to system performance, reliability or quality. * Lead projects involving supplier moves, process and material changes. Support design change projects. * Interface with EMD suppliers, OEMs and manufacturing sites to improve EMD initiatives for the business. * Identify new EMD processes, tools and contacts within the industry ? including new suppliers, instruments, or processes to further advance the business. * Champion the use of quality tools, Supplier Composite Scorecard and other data to identify and drive quality projects across all suppliers resulting in the overall improvement of supplier value to GEA (Delivery, quality, cost) * Monitor and resolve supplier process control performance issues by developing robust quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions * Drive permanent resolution of manufacturing issues and consumer issues caused by supplier defects. * Lead projects involving supplier moves, process and material changes. Support design change projects. * Lead Supplier Quality initiatives, and develop activities to fix-or-exit problematic suppliers by implementing robust corrective actions or qualifying alternate suppliers. * Lead problem definition and reactive problem solving through containment, identification of root cause and corrective action with SCAR. * Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written executive summaries to the Appliance Leadership Team. * Lead and own Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements associated with a change. * Perform annual audits to monitor supplier QMS (Quality Management System) compliance and effectiveness. * Identify areas for cost reduction across assigned supplier base including internal supplier process, quality improvements, Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) and material usage. * Develop a system of approval and control for the EMD supply base to be utilized by Sourcing Leadership to drive long term, sustainable improvements. * Leverage expertise to influence Sourcing global supplier EMD commodity strategy. Minimum Qualifications: * Engineering or Technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience * Minimum 5 years Supply Chain, Quality and/or Technical experience in manufacturing environment * Minimum 5 years of EMD related experience. * Strong background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOEs)). * Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding prints, dimensions and tolerances. * Experienced with problem solving tools and techniques (i.e. 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, DOE, eCAR, Fishbone, Pareto, Six Sigma, First Piece, PPAP). * Experienced with EMD, physical evaluation methods and measurement techniques. * Demonstrated project management and organizational skills * Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written * Demonstrated leadership to influence and drive change within a highly matrixed organization. * Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans both globally and domestically #LI-CC1 What you need to Succeed Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with EMD manufacturing processes * Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries * Prior international work experience & multi-lingual (Chinese, Spanish, etc.) * Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience * Six Sigma certified (Green Belt, Black Belt or Master Black Belt) * GEA training program graduate (OMLP, TLP, EEDP) * Master's degree Working Conditions: * Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (20%) GE Appliances is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
