Job Description

The Medical Department serves as the primary medical care for the residents of Bluegrass Hazelwood to include psychiatric, seizure control and general medical needs to include acute and chronic medical care. All services are provided at the highest standard of professional practice, complying with standards by both federal and state regulations and facility policies.

Required Education and Experience

Completion of an Accredited Medical School with a degree of Doctor or Medicine

Completion of a Medicine Residency Program

Completes all required training activities for position. Continues professional development, and keeps pace with current job specific literature, technological advances, policies, laws, etc. Maintains licensure and/or certification required for position.

Essential Functions of the Position

  • Organize the medical team to perform all the routine monthly, quarterly, and annual assessments required by federal and state regulations and SAP.
  • Along with the Pharmacy Director, ensure the optimal performance of all pharmacy duties as required by state regulations and the SAP.
  • Oversee all ARPNs, PAs, WOCNs, other physician and dental extenders, laboratory, and x-ray in positions such as specialty clinic, psychiatry, epileptology, wound care and hospital liaisons.
  • Help recruit and organize outpatient clinics staffed by consultant physicians in the community.
  • Anticipate the efficient staffing needs of the medical department and be proactive with the recruitment of medical staff as needed.
  • Maintain certification required to oversee Bluegrass Hazelwood lab services and ensure lab runs in compliance with state laws and efficiently.
  • Oversee the operations of the Specialty Clinic, be closely involved in development of services, day to day management and compliance.
  • Must ensure compliance with all ICF regulations and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Learn and follow all policies and procedures.
    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has supervisory responsibility over the Medical, Dental, X-ray, and Laboratory Departments

    Work Environment

    This job typically operates in a professional office environment with a moderate level of noise and minimal exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    Full Time: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (must be able to flex hours/work overtime as needed)


    This position requires travel to outside sites which includes the community homes
