Job Summary
Vice President of Operations is responsible for patient care
services provided by the Imaging, Surgical, and Emergency
Departments in an Ambulatory setting. Additional responsibilities
will include; but not limited to Administers, directs and
contributes to the development and operations. Major areas of
responsibilities include provision of continuous innovative and
timely quality care, approval and establishment of standard of care
and standards of practice and congruent policies and procedures,
development of human resources, establishment of budgets, control
of expenses, quality improvement, risk management activities,
growth strategy and financial oversight. Establishes controls,
monitors organizational performance, and takes necessary corrective
action. Additional responsibilities for the daily operation as well
as all licensure and other regulatory requirements. All operating
policies and procedures including emergency and safety plans remain
up to date and appropriated drills are implemented as required.
Responsibilities
--- Plans and organize the programs and operations for the UofL
Health Ambulatory sites. Assist with business development and
business growth, including development of annual business plan and
capital needs. Provides analysis and recommendations. ---
Establishes effective relationship with the medical staff to ensure
that quality services are offered to the community. Facilitates the
work of the medical staff to provide the services in implementing
their requirements. --- Provides leadership to the clinical and
operational areas of the facilities. Demonstrates a commitment to a
team, customers, and / or medical staff. --- Maintains the
operations within the fiscal and productivity guidelines of the
organization. Assists with establishing the annual capital and
operations budget for the department based on corporate objectives.
Maintain and monitors operating statistics for the facilities,
adjusting, staffing, supplies or capital expenditures to unit of
service. Develops and implements cost containment measures yearly
which results in financial benefit to the organization. Implements
programs, projects or changes annually which promote productivity,
enhance services, and / or increase staff awareness of the need to
control health care cost. --- Provide effective leadership and
personnel management to the organization. Ensures completion of all
employee reports and records according to the established
timeframes. Counsels and coaches management/staff to ensure quality
of work and adherence to policies and procedures and compliance
with all federal and state regulations as demonstrated by absence
of validated challenge. --- Contributes to the organization's
quality improvement activities and ensures compliance of all safety
regulations and infection control policies through regular rounding
in the facility. Corrects all deficiencies reported by
accreditation and regulatory agencies. --- Develops and maintains
effective relationships in the professional and civic communities.
Participates in community activities and professional organizations
to promote the services, programs and mission of UofL Health.---
Ensures the formulation of objectives, plans, and programs for the
Nursing Service departments, integrating those with overall
objectives and plans. Plays an active role in case management and
utilization review initiatives. Identifies opportunities for the
development of new services and serves to guide the initiation of
the services. --- Positively contributes to the financial viability
of the facilities. Monitors and evaluates productivity at regular
intervals and makes changes as necessary to achieve productivity
goals.--- Monitors actual department performance in the following
areas: patient care, patient satisfaction, team member performance,
attendance, retention, staffing, budget, team member development,
leadership development, physician relations and interdepartmental
relations. --- Oversees the recruitment, development, and retention
of qualified staff for all Clinical Services areas. Determine
staffing needs in each area based on patient acuity, productivity
standards, and operational statistics. Monitors and evaluates
vacancy and turnover rates and takes corrective action as necessary
to recruit and retain team members. --- Responsible for ensuring
that the quality of care provided meets or exceeds standards set by
UofL Health and all regulatory agencies. Interprets and enforces
policies in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, legal
requirements, The Joint Commission and all other licensing and
accrediting bodies.
Qualifications
Education Required:--- Master's in business or health service
administration; significant experience may be considered in lieu of
the Master's degree requirement (required)
Experience required: --- 10 years of effective leadership success
in a healthcare delivery setting--- 5 years' experience leading an
operations function at the management level
