Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical
Place of Performance: Louisville, KY
A-Team Solutions is seeking 8 Med/Surg Registered Nurses for
Full-Time 1-year contract, or 13 week contracts at the VA Hospital
in Louisville, KY. Night shifts only - 80hrs bi-weekly, 6-12 hrs
7:30P-8A and 1-8hrs 11:30p-8A.
The RN will utilize their broad-based clinical knowledge to
effectively assess,
implement health promotion and prevention interventions, manage
acute and chronic
illness states, assist patients in the attainment of optimal levels
of functioning
rehabilitation, evaluate patient response to actual or potential
health problems, and
provide supportive measures for the dying patient and their
significant others. Nursing care shall be performed in accordance
with the American Nursing Association's Standards of Care and
Standards of Professional Performance; National Patient Safety
Goals; VHA regulations; policies, and procedure; and within the
individual nurse's scope of license. The VA Nurse Manager(s), or
appropriate nursing leadership delegate (i.e., Assistant Nurse
Manager), will provide the RN with clinical oversight during their
tour of duty. More specific duties and responsibilities of the
Registered Nurse are described below.
Medical/Surgical RN
• Assume a patient care assignment for a group of patients
• Assess and care of patients with a wide range of physical and
psychological
diagnoses and with a wide range of treatment modalities
• Care of patients requiring special precautions such as
isolation
• Insert and maintain peripheral lines
• Maintain central lines for administration of intravenous
fluid
• Provide emergency care as indicated
• Administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and
intravenously)
and blood products
• Documentation of PRN effectiveness
• Verify physician orders
• Complete documentation of care accurately and according to
facility/unit policies
• Perform phlebotomy and bedside testing
• Provide Psychological support of patients as indicated
• Care and maintain complex wound dressings
• Respond to telemetry monitor alarms as appropriate
• Perform BLS and ACLS roles as needed in a patient emergency
All RNs
Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) with a 100% accuracy rate
shall be used in the applicable areas for medication
administration. BCMA is designed to provide electronic validation
and documentation of medication administration, reduce medication
misadventures, provide an online patient medication record, and
promote a safer inpatient care environment. Spot check of patient
charts or review of incident reports will be conducted. If issues
are found, remedial training of vendor employee will be given. If
remedial training is unsuccessful, the vendor employee may be
removed from providing services under the contract.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Registered Nurses (RNs). Contract RNs, including Specialty
Registered Nurse (those
with experience in Intensive Care, Medical-Surgical Units,
Telemetry and Cardiac
Monitoring and Emergency Room) shall have:
· Graduation (an Associates or Bachelor's degree) from a school of
professional
nursing provided by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and
accredited
bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The
Accreditation
Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on
Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE).
· A current license in at least one (1) state, territory, or
commonwealth in the U.S. or
the District of Columbia.
· Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by
the American
Health Association (AHA) or a Military Training Network.
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. RNs assigned to
work in Critical
Care Units, Step-down/Intermediate Care Units and Emergency Units
must have
a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
· A minimum of one (1) year direct patient care experience within
the last three (3)
years. VA experience is desirable in the clinical areas of intended
assignment,
i.e., Med/Surg or ICU
· Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
