(R), BLS Must-Have: ARRT (R) and State Radiology Tech License, BLS
Description: The Registered Radiologic Technologist utilizes
imaging, computer, and other equipment as appropriate to produce
and retain high-quality diagnostic images. These images must meet
or exceed department, organizational, and industry standards.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, as
well as image quality. Applies professional knowledge to prepare
patients for procedures. Educates patients and responds to their
questions or concerns. Ensures an age-appropriate approach to
communication and safety needs. Provides patient education and
understands principles of physical and functional growth and
development. Demonstrates expertise in patient positioning, imaging
techniques, and radiation safety. Operates imaging equipment,
maintains infection control, and applies quality control
techniques. Oversees and trains students in providing patient care,
treatment, and services as part of their training. Applies
radiation safety techniques and devices to minimize exposure to
patients and staff. Assess and prepares patients for procedures
while addressing their questions and concerns. Ensures
communication and safety needs are appropriate for all ages.
