The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a practice governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments based on policy and procedure or as required by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. The RN initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care, reviewing and revising it as indicated. The RN collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services, utilizing resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and the patient/family. The RN monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs and appropriate care, treatment, and services during their stay and at discharge. The RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor/preceptor, demonstrating and encouraging teamwork. The RN identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement and participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
