experience, 2 years Description: Job Summary:A professional nurse
is an individual accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe effective patient and
family centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially
stable unit, promoting his/her own development with an emphasis on
evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice
Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed
staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M.
Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess,
develop, implement and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on
patient and family comforts, education and satisfaction. The RN
applies his/her educational and professional experiences in the
delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job
Responsibilities: -Assessment: Performs assessments & reassessments
per policy & procedure or as warranted by patient condition;
demonstrates ability to make sound independent decisions.
-Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes and
implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as
indicated. Collaborates with patient/family & interdisciplinary
services; utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of
the organization/patient/family. -Evaluation: Monitors and
documents response to clinical interventions. -Education:
Facilitates/coordinates/provides/evaluates education specific to
patient/family needs and as appropriate to the care, treatment and
services provided during their stay and at discharge. -Leadership:
Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; functions
as a mentor/preceptor; demonstrates/encourages/facilitates
teamwork; identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities
for improvement; participates in quality, safety and service
process improvement efforts and implements practice changes;
complies with regulatory standards; participates in the Practice
Governance model.supervisor.-Is knowledgeable about activities
which facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration.-Participate
in development and achievement of unit goals and performance
improvement activities.-Effectively uses communication
systems.-Participate in promoting cost-effective care.-Gives
feedback to co-workers.-Is aware of public policy and regulatory
guidelines affecting the health care environment.-Promotes a safe,
clean and secure hospital environment for all.-Patient Assessment:
Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for
care.-Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and
safety needs.-Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful whole
prior to communication to others.-Assesses and anticipates
discharge needs of individual patients and families.-Develops
relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate
for the patient and their own needs.-Planning: Collaborates with
patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care.-Make use of
available multidisciplinary resources in planning care.-Begins to
use full range of communication as a means to convey
planning.-Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in
planning patient care.-Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for
patients with complex problems.-Research: Reads journals that
contain studies or articles that may be applicable to
practice.-Brings ideas and questions to the staff at large for
