Position: Bulk Shipment Coordinator Job Purpose: The Bulk Shipment Coordinator ensures effective logistics of bulk goods at the site which includes timely and accurate tracking and reporting of incoming and outgoing materials, inspection, tracking and movement of materials stored in railcars, inspection and operation of logistics equipment, and oversight of 3 rd party bulk truck contractors according to prescribed methods and criteria. Work Environment: The Bulk Shipment Coordinator regularly performs duties in the railyard, an outdoor environment that requires use of personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, work gloves, protective sleeves and/or clothing, respiratory protection, weather gear and other specialized protective equipment all as directed by the Company's operating procedures, safety procedures, and other instructions provided by management. Duties that are performed in the railyard are conducted during all types of weather conditions. The railyard environment includes equipment used to move railcars. Some areas of the railyard are covered with a canopy to provide fall arrest equipment used by the employee when inspecting railcars. The employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, sharp equipment components and tools, icy, wet or slippery outdoor conditions, airborne dust and particles, and inclement weather conditions. The employee will work in high places using fall arrest equipment. Additionally, the Bulk Shipment coordinator will periodically perform duties in an office area. The employee will perform such duties in an open cubical area. The noise level is generally quiet with comfortable temperatures. The typical work schedule includes 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The Bulk Shipment Coordinator is expected to work additional hours to perform the duties of the position as the need arises (under reasonable safety considerations). Work instructions are generally provided in written form or spoken in English. Essential Functions and Requirements: Essential tasks performed by the Bulk Shipment Coordinator include but are not limited to: daily data entry of railcar information; verification of Certificate of Analysis for raw materials; inspection and weighing of railcars and hopper trucks; completion of the Raw Material Railcar/Hopper Truck Inspection Sheet; conducts inspections of equipment including the mobile railcar mover and aerial lift; identification of non-conforming material including the attachment of cable seals to belly tubes of railcar compartments. The employee will gather samples of material from railcars and hopper trucks and when required, will submit the samples to the lab for testing. The employee will notify the carrier or railroad for bulk shipments and obtain railcar routing instructions. The employee performs tasks to prepare railcars and hopper trucks for shipment of finished goods, including the completion of documentation for all shipments. The employee will ensure compliance to the Company's environmental standards with regard to the handling, storage and disposal of universal and special waste. The employee regularly performs tasks using material handling equipment which include but are not limited to: a mobile railcar mover, aerial boom lift, forklift, pallet jack or similar device to transport material and other items. The employee periodically assembles, fills and/or disassembles packages. Housekeeping and other general tasks include but are not limited to organization and cleanup of work areas. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions listed above. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach repetitively with arms and hands; talk; and hear. The employee is required to walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl and stoop. The employee will routinely lift items up to 55 pounds from floor level to waist height and use devices that require a pushing or pulling force up to 120 pounds. The employee will climb ladders and perform tasks at heights greater than 6 feet and walk along rail tracks regularly throughout an 8 hour shift. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also have a satisfactory attendance record and be responsible for the safe operation of all equipment described above and the safe handling of the materials. Additional Responsibilities: The employee must maintain awareness of (and perform tasks in compliance with) all internal policies, procedures and  practices, as described in the Handbook for Employees, all Safety and Environmental Manuals, and all applicable OSHA, EPA and IDEM regulations, and other instructions provided by management. The employee must identify and report the following to management: suspect or nonconforming material; issues related to the inspection of railcars, hopper trucks, the mobile railcar mover or aerial lifts; and safety, environmental and quality incidents. Effective verbal communication with co-workers, management and third parties is required. Certain reports and other communication will be required in writing, generally in English. Pre-Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent; produce acceptable scores on the following ACT Work Keys tests: Applied Mathematics, Workplace Documents and Graphic Literacy. Preferred candidates should have prior work history in a manufacturing environment with experience in inventory management. Career Development: Position is eligible for Chemtrusion's certification program. With appropriate tenure, training, and available openings, may advance to a suitable management position.
