Galen College of Nursingis looking for a BSN Program Director to provide engaged leadership with thedevelopment, implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement ofthe educational program in accordance with the laws and rules of all applicablestate and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies in response to identifiedindustry and community needs.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that students andgraduates have achieved the student learning outcomes, program outcomes, androle-specific graduate competencies

Facilitate faculty in theimplementation of systematic plan for evaluation

Ensure that aggregated andtrended evaluation findings are used to inform decision making for themaintenance and improvement of the student learning outcomes and programoutcomes; shares these findings with communities of interest

Assume responsibility forthe oversight of programmatic accreditation; is vested with the administrativeauthority to accomplish the program’s mission, goals, and expected programoutcomes; and provides effective supervision and leadership for the academicnursing unit to achieve its mission, goals, and expected program outcomes

Foster an educationalenvironment that supports the students, graduates, and faculty in their pursuitof life-long learning

Ensure that the number offaculty is sufficient to achieve the student learning outcomes and programoutcomes

Identify the resourcesrequired for faculty (full- and part-time) to maintain expertise in their areasof responsibility

Ensure that faculty areacademically prepared for the areas in which they teach, maintain expertise intheir areas of responsibility, and that their performance reflects scholarshipand evidence-based teaching and clinical practices. Ensures that faculty (full-and part-time) are oriented and mentored in their areas of responsibility

Oversee the systematicassessment of faculty (full- and part-time) performance; develops a plan withthe faculty when areas for improvement are identified

Ensure that faculty engagein on-going development and receive support for instructional and distancetechnologies

Screen and interviewfaculty applicants, recommends faculty prior to hire to the Dean, and activelymentors faculty in the Rank & Promotion process

Collaborate with facultyand the Dean to create and maintain an environment conducive to teachingand learning, scholarship, and service, including oversight of faculty assignments,scheduling, and workload

Act as a leadership rolemodel who inspires a sense of college community and motivate positivevalues in all interactions

Participate in thedevelopment of policies for nursing students, ensuring that theyare congruent with the College, publicly accessible, andnon-discriminatory

Ensure the appropriateapplication of student policies and the correct implementation of relatedprocedures by faculty

Identify the resourcesrequired to provide student services that are commensurate with the needsof nursing students, including those receiving instruction using alternative methodsof delivery

Ensure the implementationof policies and procedure that allows program complaints and grievances toreceive due process and include evidence of resolution; implements strategiesfor continuous improvement based on the evaluation of complaints andgrievances

Ensure that orientation totechnology is provided and that technological support is availableto students

Facilitate the faculty intheir development of the curriculum and its regular review toensure integrity, rigor, and currency; ensures that accreditationstandards and criteria are used as they relate to curriculum

Ensure that practicelearning environments support the achievement of student learning outcomeis and program outcomes

Facilitate faculty toensure that learning activities, instructional materials, andevaluation methods are appropriate for all delivery formats and consistentwith the student learning outcomes

Identify fiscal, physical,and learning resources for the achievement of the studentlearning outcomes and program outcomes

Identify the fiscal,physical, technological, and learning resources required to meet theneeds of the faculty and students engaged in alternative methods ofdelivery

Participate in governanceactivities; facilitate faculty and student representatives intheir participation in governance activities

Facilitate theimplementation of recommendations made by communities of interestregarding program processes and decision making

Orient and mentor programleaders or support staff to their role

Maintain authority andshared responsibility with the Dean for the development and administrationof the nursing program

Engage in the preparationand administration of the program budget; ensures faculty input

Participate in thedevelopment of policies for nursing faculty and staff to ensure that theyare comprehensive and provide for the welfare of faculty and staff

Create and submit reportsand documentation to appropriate regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies,and State Boards of Nursing

Qualifications

Unencumbered NursingLicense in this state

Graduate Degree inNursing, Doctoral Degree required

Physical/Mental Demandsand Work Environment:

Position requires criticalthinking, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making

Physical demands in theclassroom and office are minimal and are considered sedentary work withoccasional lifting and/or carrying articles such as records, files, and books(10 pounds maximum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phone,computer, classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner occurs on afrequent basis

Physical demands in theclinical area may include lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, stooping,crouching, bending, or any other related activity
