Job ID: 33552 | Location: Louisville, Kentucky, USA The Logistics Coordinator provides direction and support for the employees assigned to their team toward the goal of maximizing safety, regulatory responsibility, productivity and quality. This person is the point person for all shipping, screening, repackaging, labeling and personnel activities. Responsibilities In coordination with the appropriate oversight (e.g. Plant Manager, Logistics and Planning Manager, HR) is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing issues; and resolving problems. Applies engineering, Lean and 5S principles and experience to drive continuous improvement with regard to processing equipment, systems and the work environment. Applies these skills to coach others in the safe and effective operation of these systems through formal and informal training and troubleshoot shortcomings. This includes but is not limited to environmental health and safety concerns; how the equipment works; how the equipment is operated; the effect of the equipment on the product; quality check points; critical quality parameters; engineering out waste; etc. Analyses process and quality data and takes appropriate action if necessary. Maximize individual employee skill flexibility by assessing the current skill base, identifying skill gaps, and enabling the employees to close skill gaps by providing necessary training. Effectively communicates with on-coming and off-going shifts; among employees on their shift of immediate responsibility; with the production manager; technical support personnel; logistics and planning; etc. Ensures system performance reviews are done on each shift. Ensuring Process Orders (POs) are maintained in an accurate manner including issues, receipts, scrap and rework generation, productivity, accounting for 100% of work force hours, and modification as needed. Provide explanation of any variance at conclusion of each shift. Leads Champions and Supports continuous improvement initiatives and activities. Provides guidance, coaching and support to personnel to ensure KPI's are met - including (but not limited to) ESHA, Quality, Productivity and all project activities. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces policies and safety regulations. Responsible for scheduling over time and time card approval. Responsible for ensuring all 5S initiatives are met or exceeded and removing barriers to achieve plant-wide success. Develops Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) as needed; report incidents and manage appropriate review meetings and work orders; ensure all required ESHA forms are accurate, complete and appropriately addressed; manage the Waste Water Treatment Facility; and act as Incident Commander, as needed. Input, review, and release maintenance work orders that are generated. Maintains certification in CPR/First Aid, DOT, IATA, IMDG (IMO), Hazardous Waste, and Alcohol and Substance Abuse Awareness. Other duties as assigned Requirements High Shool Diploma required, Bachelor's degree or equivalent from college/university or technical school perferred: or more than 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skilled in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint. Excellent attendance and performance record. Excellent safety record with a demonstrated ability to approach safety issues proactively. Demonstrated team leadership. Excellent mechanical and spatial aptitude with the ability to learn and apply root cause analyses, lean and six sigma methodologies within an industrial manufacturing environment. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation development, graphics, etc. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must have valid driver's license; carry insurance and means of transportation.
