Program Director, Technologies Development Center Careers that Change Lives Reporting to the Sr. Director of PMO with a dotted line to Vice President of R&D, Enabling Technologies this position will be responsible for managing processes, partnerships, and business model innovation for the Enabling Technologies Development Center (TDC). As a key strategic and technical leadership role, primary responsibilities will be to ensure business and contracting processes for full life cycle support are optimized to scale and grow TDC Partnership programs. Driving key collaborations and relationships with other MDT Operating Units (OU's). Work will include managing all POI activity and identifying & exploring new product development opportunities that drive sustainable growth in existing and adjacent market spaces within areas of key strength for Enabling Technology. Key stakeholders include CST R&T Director of Technology Scouting and Road mapping, Quality, Operations and other cross functional leaders. A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and processes. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project's key stakeholders. Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems. Provides vision and strategic leadership for all innovation & research activities associated with ET TDC processes, partnerships, and business models. Drives execution and accountability for ET TDC partnership funded development program. Establish global contracting process and SOW's for multiple OU partners. Collaborate with Quality, Operations, PMO, Research & Technology (R&T) and R&D to develop harmonized QMS/DHF integration processes. Collaborates with cross functional and cross business leadership teams to ensure partner programs have clear ownership, and appropriate level of resourcing. Develop new business model innovations to ensure scalable, long term sustainable OU partnerships with the ability to rapidly scale efforts. This work will include collaboration with Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center (MEIC, Hyderabad, India) Work with finance to develop sustainable budget models to enable full life cycle support of R&T, NPI and RPM work with EBITA/ P&L neutral transactions. Manage and work at a global level including multiple sites in US, India, China, and Israel as needed. Develops and maintains an internal network of peer leaders across MDT to collaborate with and across OU's to driver functional excellence and execution of broad research, technology development and product development efforts. Partner internally and externally with global stakeholders to ensure the development of the best meaningful innovations of medical device technology to meet unmet medical needs in alignment with the Medtronic Mission. Sets the overall vision and strategy for Innovation processes for ET TDC. Participates ET PMO/R&D Leadership staff to develop strategy, tactics and execution of strategic plan initiatives and programs and collaborates with peer leaders across divisions, functional excellence and execution of broad ET research, technology and development efforts. Participates in various product development governance meetings and oversees the partnership program PRC's, providing expert guidance, prioritization, technical & process insight for core teams to overcome challenges and meet business expectations for product development andresource allocation. Provide updates and investment opportunities to the CST and ET Management Teams (PSB's) Actively engage with the ET/CST R&T Teams. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree required. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience. Demonstrated success in organizational development, leadership, and budgetary responsibility in research, technology development, product development, clinical leadership roles or senior business roles. Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and operate effectively in white spaces Global Medtronic Mindset - Ability to infuse the Further Together Strategy centrally and locally to ensure future Medtronic success, yet maintain local success. Strong Business Acumen Highly oriented to customer service and quality improvement Proven ability to operate in a matrix organization and work effectively with leadership, customers, and across geographic and organization boundaries Operational Background in relevant functions (high quality focus, cost center management, lean processes, agility, service provider focused, etc.) Ability to create high level program estimates for various size, scale and technical maturity of programs (NPI, R&T and RPM) Ability to manage multiple TDC programs at a portfolio level and create and report out on associated metrics Emotional intelligence (e.g. self-awareness, social empathy, team leadership, motivational, etc.) Good judgment with demonstrated integrity and respect of peers and subordinates Focus on building strategic alliances & partnerships, motivational, etc. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Strong ability to influence Maintain visibility to key stakeholders globally - Research and technology, development, R&D sites, clinical, marketing, strategy, other BU leaders, clinicians, patients, etc. (through: travel, information sharing, performance metrics, strategy engagement, etc.) A mature, confident, and persuasive manager with strong leadership and team building abilities across all levels of the organization.
