Master's degree in Finance, Account or a related field and three year of related work experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade EF. Salary minimum: $47,476

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in public administration, economics, finance or similar field with some familiarity of postsecondary education or public sector operations.

Position Description

The Budget and Planning Office is seeking a Policy and Budget Analyst. This position is an integral member of the university's central budget office and will provide high-level budget and analytical support to the Associate Director of Budget and Planning through the careful review of budget requests, budget-to-actual revenue and expense monitoring, and sophisticated analyses of financial operations.

Job Responsibilities

* Review and analyze academic and support unit operating budget requests; * Monitor university revenues and expenses to ensure a stable financial position; * Apply analytical techniques to help explain the impact of anticipated or implemented financial actions; * Provide technical support and guidance to staff in academic and support units on matters related to the budget and the budget system; * Responsible for running data queries and updating budget files to maintain accurate financial reporting; * Provide support to complete the University's annual budget, as well as the state biennial budget submission; * Complete and evaluate information for both internal and external reports and analyses; and * Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues within the budget office and across the university's campuses

Candidate should be able to provide executive level reports that provide clear and concise information, manipulate large data sets in Excel using formulas and power pivot tables, familiarity with statistical methods including trend analysis and time series, and knowledge of cost allocations methods. Preferred candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and have fundamental knowledge of budgeting, finance and accounting principles.
