Job Description:

Overview As laboratory director, you are responsible for the overall operation of the laboratory, including the employment of competent qualified personnel. Even though you have the option to delegate someof your responsibilities, you remain ultimately responsible and must ensure that all the duties are properly performed and applicable CLIA regulations are met. It is your responsibility to ensure that yourlaboratory develops and uses a quality system approach to laboratory testing that provides accurate and reliable patient test results. Responsibilities Provide clinical and technical oversight of the Histocompatibility Laboratory. Ensure all testing results maintain quality and uniformity. Develops and reviews laboratory procedures and quality control programs. Refer, advise and consult with physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff within and outside of U of L Health regarding the various tests offered by the laboratory 24/7. Help and organize education of residents, fellowships, and staff Oversight of CAP and UNOS compliance which includes proficiency testing. Reviews quality control and preventive maintenance records. Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Section Director/Technical Supervisor Qualifications:1. MD or DO licensed to practice (if required) in the jurisdiction where the laboratory is located, or doctoral degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution, AND2. Laboratory training and experience: four years training and experience in histocompatibility, or two years training and experience in general immunology plus two years in histocompatibility. For section director/technical supervisors supporting solid organ and/or hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation, records of training or relevant experience in histocompatibility appropriate to the supported transplant programs.Experience: Four years training and experience in histocompatibility, or two years training and experience in general immunology plus two years in histocompatibility. (required)Licensure: MD or DO licensed to practice (if required) in the jurisdiction where the laboratory is located, or doctoral degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution. (required)Certification: Board certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) (preferred) ASHI credentialed as a HLA Director preferred in the following areas:Solid Organ Transplantation: Live DonorSolid Organ Transplantation: Deceased DonorHSC/BM Transplantation: Related DonorHSC/BM Transplantation: Unrelated DonorHistocompatibility Testing for Other Clinical PurposesGeneral Immunology: Engraftment
