Position Objective:

Evaluate and select suppliers to procure equipment, raw materials, parts and services to meet the organization's needs. Coordinate activities with engineering, quality, operations, and business teams to ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective components are selected. Investigate sources of supply and issue requests for quotations, proposals, and bids for those components not covered by any existing purchasing arrangement. Ensure purchases remain within budget and on schedule. Identify and execute sourcing opportunities to optimize supply chain by balancing low cost, quality products, and optimal lead-times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing:
    • Responsible for the procurement of equipment, materials, services, and supplies in support of all businesses within AAF Americas.
    • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Sourcing:
    • Research, develop, and maintain contacts with suppliers and stay aware of ongoing benchmarking, product development, and price changes.
    • As assigned, lead supplier relationships and strategy including; supporting supplier development initiatives, managing/monitoring vendor key performance indicators and scorecards, and negotiating and executing (within allowed limits of authority) supplier agreements and contacts.
    • Responsible for assigned supplier performance in coordination with the Quality Manager. Develop and maintain supplier quality KPIs to assure the consistent use of high-quality vendors.
    • Research and obtain innovative and cost-effective materials that will reduce cost, increase efficiency, or maximize sell ability.
    • Suggest to management product improvement ideas, alternative materials, and sourcing strategies based on industry and supplier research.

Key Process Indicators (KPIs) Owned:

  • Purchase Price Variance (PPV)
  • Total $ amount identified and implemented savings opportunities (cost out projects)
  • Supplier performance scorecard

Technical Requirements:

  • Nuclear knowledge
  • Environmental Products knowledge
  • Production and manufacturing environment experience


  • 2+ years of recent experience in sourcing or procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have a solid track record of cost reduction and productivity improvement
  • Total system cost modeling and should be" cost modeling
  • Low cost sourcing
  • Project and Subcontractor sourcing experience
  • Supplier identification, qualification, and integration
  • Knowledge of filter, environmental products equipment and gas turbine equipment raw materials markets and strategies to manage raw material price volatility
  • Excellent relationship skills and the ability to work cross functionally
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to identify and implement best practice
  • Solid analytical skills

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelors degree in business, economics, engineering or related field

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Project management certification preferred
  • Lean and/or six sigma certification preferred

Special Skills:

  • Technical Support in Dust Collection equipment
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP experience preferred
  • Contract/agreement creation, renewal, and negotiating skills
