We are Turning Point Brands, but you are probably more familiar with some of our brands like Zig-Zag, Stoker's and Beech-Nut!About the jobThe Senior Accountant applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information by performing the following functions below. Maintains and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation. Travel is not required. This position has no personnel management responsibilities and reports to the Manager Finance - Inventory. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in the office, with periodic extended hours, as needed. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Essential FunctionsPrepares and analyzes monthly journal entries and account reconciliationsAnalyzes raw material and finished goods inventory accounts for proper recording of various transactions affecting cost of sales and prepares journal entries as needed, reconciles month-end account balances to raw material and finished goods inventory reportsAnalyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.Coordinates Inventory Physical CountsReviews PO Activity and analyzes Purchase Price VarianceMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or universityFour years of related accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentMust have a strong cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principlesProficient in Microsoft ExcelExcellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processesGeneral awareness knowledge of the ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements, company Quality Policy and your contributions to the effectiveness of the QMS;Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations.Supplementary InformationThis description is based upon management's assessment of the requirements and functions of the job as of the date this description was prepared.
