BASIC FUNCTION :   The Assistant Vice President Consumer Credit Underwriting is primarily responsible for leading and coaching team members to serve the association’s internal and external customers by analyzing and processing loan requests, loan servicing requests, and other credit services as submitted.  Shares and inspires the association’s vision within team members to bring about the successful credit analysis and risk management. Supports the Vice President Consumer Credit in the strategic planning and budgeting process and aligning team goals are consistent with attaining association goals. Works closely with leaders and appropriate teams to implement improved processes and tools. Approves or denies loans within delegated authority, makes recommendations for loans exceeding authority, and establishes appropriate loan terms to manage loan risks. Supervises: Credit Analysts TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS : 10% MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES : Assistant Vice Presidents LEAD others and may lead leaders by: Achieving results by leading others within discipline or function Defining team operating standards and monitoring essential procedures Exercising management authority in performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, and other employment decisions Influencing and negotiating with team members in other areas of the organization Possessing technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities Pursuing an understanding of and making positive contributions to the customer journey value stream Modeling organizational values, inspiring a shared vision and holding their teams accountable for culture preservation and development The AVP Consumer Credit Underwriting also leads by: Leads the team to work with sales staff and alliance partners to understand customer goals, credit strengths and weaknesses, and deliver “value added” constructive lending and financial information that will assist our customers and prospective customers. Credit administration and reporting recommends, implements, and administers regulations, policies, and procedures in relation to credit and operation objectives. Facilitates training for association team members as assigned. Assistant Vice Presidents ADAPT by: Adjusting departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges with focus on the next two to four years' priorities Making decisions based on policies, procedures, business plan, resource availability and functional objectives Identifying opportunities for application of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to solve complex problems Remains up-to-date and knowledgeable of industry trends and innovations to determine the potential value to the association. Assistant Vice Presidents CONNECT by: Coordinating with cross-functional leaders to make recommendations or solve problems Providing technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers Additional responsibilities may be assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS and GRADING GUIDELINES Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business or related field while having at least 5 years of Credit Analysis experience or similar position. Three of those must have been in a leadership role or having demonstrated leadership capabilities OR successful evaluation at the Director level. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Knowledge of:  Association products, services, fees and their applications to customers’ needs; assigned market segment and territory; economic conditions; competition’s products, interest rates, and fees; competition preparing to move into market; selling techniques; agriculture; Association accounting systems;  Association originating systems and processes; technology; and  Association policies and procedures. Skills in:  Building business relationships; creating and networking with business contacts/influencers to develop sales; selling; negotiating; probing for customer needs, matching products and services to customer needs; managing and using media effectively; translating features into benefits; closing sales; interpersonal relations; listening; using Association accounting and loan origination systems; and computers; verbal and written communications; decision making; and creative problem solving. General management as applied to office operations; organizing, coaching, counseling, developing and motivating subordinates. Ability to:  Achieve goals; be innovative; accept and implement corporate strategies; demonstrate the values of Association;  maintain confidentiality; be a self-starter; sell; be assertive; relate positively to others; listen to customers; use Association systems and computers; be logical; work under stress; to overcome objections; manage time; accept risk; inspire others; professionally represent the Association. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This job requires the incumbent to have the ability to… Engage in telephone and face-to-face conversation to serve customers and give and receive information from staff, vendors, outside consultants and the public. Use computer.  This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information. Speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to job. Travel via auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities of the job. Successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, vendors, and/or the public at all levels. Provide sound technical advice to leaders and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position. Understand and explain various subject matter and consulting concepts, programs, terminology, and methods. Reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, decide, and critique such information as written material, numerical data, responses to customer needs, and/or other related work activities.
