Position is open to current Army employees. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities - Serve as administrative and operational expert, advisor and principal source of expertise with regards to construction management, quality assurance, safety and project controls. - Monitor and reports on the status and progress of work, conducting site visits to assist with resolving concerns with quality, safety, or schedule delays. - Ensure full compliance with contract plans and specifications. - Review/evaluate contractor proposed schedules for logic, adequacy, and determination of construction schedules being met. - Review contractors reports to verify accuracy of work performed, materials and equipment used, safety issues noted and/or corrected, and key communications or instructions given. - Maintain working relationships with both internal and external customers; often serving as the single point of contact for customers. - Ensure subordinates comply with applicable safety standards and practices. - Lead a team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload. Travel Required 50% or less - You may be expected to travel up to 50% of the time for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. One Year Specialized Experience -I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience with assisting in project oversight, design consulting, and construction services for the construction, repair, and alteration of facilities. Such experience must have included the application of project management, construction management, and procurement methods and techniques; inspection of construction and building systems; application of construction and cost estimating techniques; and experience interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: - Contract Administration - Leadership - Oral Communication - Project Planning, Design, and Construction - Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard Control Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
