Job Description:
Siemens Mobility US is looking for aspiring engineers to come
aboard for a 10-12-week internship journey where they will get
exposure to what happens behind the scenes to make the rail world
go round.
During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity
to immerse yourself in the Freight Engineering group where you will
learn how basic railroad designs work and protect people at
railroad crossings.

A little bit about us
Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation
of people and goods by rail - including rolling stock, rail
automation, rail electrification, and service. Using state of the
art equipment, we craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum
of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains,
light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches,
and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to
provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as
well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger
rail and transit systems.
The Freight Engineering team allows new crossing and wayside
products to be introduced to the Class 1 railroads and the many
short line railroads throughout the United States.
What you will do...
Learn about our standard processes
Work with testing personnel and project managers to learn about
Crossing designs and principles through shadowing and the
assignment of relevant tasks to build up your practical
knowledge.
Interface with different areas of the Freight Engineering
department and learn about how collaboration drives success.
Gain insight into Freight Engineering essentials related to
activities such as: Circuit design/operation, troubleshooting
testing issues, production safety, and project completion
activities.

Basic Qualifications:
Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering -
Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or similar from an accredited
college or university
Legal authorization to work in the US is required
Must reside or go to school near internship location (Louisville,
Kentucky).
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
Previous internship experience or relevant school projects
Strong communication skills - verbal and written
Ability to work on a team
Interest in learning about the rail industry - Application Design
Engineering, project management, manufacturing, etc.
