Position Summary: Primarily responsible for thorough follow-up and collection of underpaid and denied claims. Primary Responsibilities: Contact insurance company to obtain missing information, explain and resolve underpayments and arrange for payment or adjustment processing on behalf of client. Present ideas on complex detailed issues with ease. Demonstrate the ability to spell, use grammar, and prepare written correspondence, reports and documentation at a college level. Prepare and submit correspondence such as letters, emails, online inquiries, appeals, adjustments, reports and payment posting Calculate multiple payment methodologies such as: percentage of charge, percentage of Medicare, multiple procedure guidelines, etc. Maintain regular contact with necessary parties regarding claims status including payors, clients, managers, and other BLS personnel Direct claims to and coordinate and support BLS specialty units Review insurance contracts to gain thorough understanding of payment methodologies Protect organization's competitiveness by keeping information confidential Build strong, lasting relationships with clients, carriers and BLS personnel Attend department and company meetings Comply with federal and state laws and company policies and procedures Other duties as assigned Essential Skills and Experience: Requires experience in an operational setting, preferably in managed care or hospital patient accounts High school diploma or equivalent Moderate computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Analytical and problem solving skills necessary to investigate various issues with carriers and their contracts, and to respond to questions and resolve problems Interpersonal skills, professional conduct, and communication skills to effectively gather information, ask questions and discuss problems with internal personnel Excellent oral and written communication skills: ability to present ideas on complex, detailed issues with ease; ability to spell, use appropriate grammar and prepare written correspondence, reports and documentation at a college level Mathematical skills: ability to calculate rates using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to use time management skills to effectively manage own time and complete tasks on time Ability to adapt and become flexible in order to perform a variety of duties, often changing focus from one task to another of a different nature without loss of composure or effectiveness Ability to independently learn and use new software products Strong team player Commitment to company values Disclaimer: BLS salaries are intentionally not posted and are based on level of experience.
